Our coaches are dedicated to providing young amateur and professional hockey players the opportunity to develop and improve their skills and to help them reach the Elite level of hockey.
Jon Calvano Program Director
Coach Calvano has been developing players since 1998 and is currently General Manager of the North West Giants Major Midget AAA Team .
Prior to going the Rivermen Coach Calvano was Assistant GM and Associate HC of the Langley Rivermen of the BCHL , General Manager and Head Coach of the Coquitlam Express of the BCHL, Coach Calvano enjoyed tremendous success coaching the North West Giants of the BCMM AAA League were he won three Provincial Championship and in the Macs Midget AAA Christmas Tournament, lead the Giants to the finals three times, winning the event in 2010.
Calvano’s focus on individual player skills and Individual Tactical Development has helped many players obtain their goals in Hockey with tremendous observation and Coaching.
Cole Todd Tactical Skating Director
Cole Todd is from North Vancouver, BC.
He played for the Vancouver North West Giants for two years, during his time with the Giants he was an
Assistant Captain and helped lead the team to two Provincial Championships and one Mac’s World
Invitational Championship. He continued his hockey career with the Prince George Spruce Kings (BCHL),
playing 3 years there, in his third year he was traded to the Fort McMurray Oil Barons (AJHL) and
finished out his career at 20 years old.
Cole began coaching after junior hockey at his home association, North Shore Winter Club. He assistant
coached the Atom A1 team for two years winning the regular season and playoff banners in his second
year. In his third year at NSWC, he assistant coached the Peewee A1 team, who placed 3 rd in provincials.
Cole played a big part in cookie monsters, initiation development, team development, and programming
at NSWC. He was on the NSWC Development Team for five years. Cole teaches tactics of skating and
structures his lesson plans around improving the skating IQ in game situational drills.
After coaching at NSWC, Cole started coaching at the elite level stream in the CSSHL with St. George’s
School. He was the Assistant Coach for the U15 Varsity team and coached at the School for 2 years.
Zach Hamill
Brandon Morley Head of Player Development
Brandon played his minor hockey with both Burnaby minor and Burnaby winter club. After being drafted in the 3rd round to the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL. As a 15 year old he played on the North West Giants With head coach Jon Calvano, before starting his Junior A career with the Surrey Eagles. Serving as the team captain at 18, he finished season with the Coquitlam Express, again coached by Jon Calvano. Receiving a NCAA division 1 scholarship to the University of Alaska Fairbanks, he achieved his Masters in Business Administration and served as the team captain for his senior year. From Alaska, he started his professional career playing overseas in Germany for 3 seasons.
Going on his second year with ELD, Brandon has been working with the NHL players all the way down to 4 year olds.
